843rd "Nir" Armored Battalion Emblem pin
The 843rd Nir Armored Battalion operates under the command of the Northern Brigade of the Gaza Division. 
This official emblem also serves as the unit's badge.

The battalion was formally established on May 13, 2025, following the lessons learned from the Iron Swords War (2023) and, in particular, the events of October 7. 
Its creation aimed to reduce the IDF reliance on reserve battalions that were heavily engaged in combat operations in the Gaza Strip, and to establish a regular, stable force of armored fighters in the southern sector.

The Nir Battalion plays a central role in maintaining the security of communities near the Gaza Strip. Its armored tanks form a critical component in ongoing defense efforts and in responding to operational threats along the Gaza border.

The battalion is stationed in the Zikim sector and is composed of regular armored companies.
