Was in use by soldiers operating a portable ground-based radar, made in the United States, designed to monitor the movement of enemy forces at night and in conditions of poor visibility.

AN / PPS-5 Ground Surveillance Radar was in use by the IDF for about 35 years mainly by female soldiers along the borders.
