The Civil Guard is a department (headed by the Chief of Staff) within the Police Division of the Israel Police that coordinates all volunteer activities carried out by civilians in the police.
The Civil Guard is considered the largest volunteer organization in Israel and this organization has no equal in the police organizations and law enforcement agencies in the Western world. A study conducted by the Israel Police revealed that the activities of tens of thousands of volunteers in the Civil Guard over the years have led to a sharpening of public vigilance, increased involvement of citizens in the community and the discovery of good citizenship and improved quality of life in Israel.
