The Karni Ram Brigade, number 278, was a brigade in Tze'elim as part of a division number 220 and a division number 380 and its tanks were used to train the reserve array at the facility.

Over the years, the division was converted to Mark 2 Merkava tanks.

In 2014, following the disbandment of the 14th Brigade (the strike) as part of the reduction of the armored array, it was decided that in order to preserve the heritage of the 14th Brigade, its name and heritage would be transferred to the 278th Brigade, which continued to exist as the 14th Brigade.
