The Engineers company (Chahan) was established in 1965.

The badge is granted to a soldier who finished successfully a route, consisting of the following phases: Pre-Training adaptation tryout and crew selection, Four month's Infantry training in the Golani Brigade, Two further months of advanced infantry training for apprenticeship in the field of engineering and combat engineering, class commanders course and second advanced training.

The course qualifies the warrior as a Sapper (Palas) or a Heavy Mechanical Equipment Operator (Tsama), Road/fortification Disruption commander for Assault and breakthrough of enemy line.

The service in this unit is voluntarily.

The well-known motto of the company is "One For All And All For One".
