The official shoulder tag of Brigade 613, the IDF’s Haredim infantry brigade, also known as the Hashmonaim Brigade.
Brigade 613 is a regular‑service infantry brigade operating under the IDF Training and Instruction Command.
The brigade provides a framework that enables Haredim (ultra‑Orthodox) soldiers to serve in the IDF while fully preserving their religious lifestyle — including gender separation, designated prayer and Torah‑study times, Mehadrin‑level kosher food, and an environment aligned with their values.
The brigade was established following High Court rulings regarding the enlistment of yeshiva students and the legislative process of the Conscription Law during the Iron Swords War.
The planned manpower of the brigade is approximately 3,000 soldiers. It will include:
- Three Haredi infantry battalions
- Two regular infantry battalions with full service
- One Haredi reserve battalion, trained to Rifleman 07 level as a specialized maneuvering infantry force
Training for Haredi reservists lasts about seven months at Rifleman 07 level. After completing training, they will serve a two‑month operational deployment, be released, and later be called for reserve duty as needed.
