IDF Vintage Master Sergeant (Resab) Collar Insignia

An authentic piece of Israeli military history.

This is a vintage IDF Master Sergeant (Rav Samal Bachir - "Resab") collar rank insignia.

Designed for the Ground Forces Class A (Madi Aleph) uniform shirts, this unique style of rank insignia was worn by IDF Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) from the mid-1980s until 1998.

 

Historical & Military Background:

  • Era of use: Between the mid-1980s and 1998, IDF NCO ranks (from Chief Sergeant to Chief Master Sergeant) were uniquely displayed as metal pins pinned directly onto the shirt collars.
  • Dedication (Permanent Service): The Master Sergeant (Resab) rank represents exceptional experience, awarded to career NCOs after a maximum of 9 years of dedicated service in the previous rank (Rasam).
  • Dedication for Reserves servers (Reserve Service): reserve soldiers, are intitle to this rank requires meeting the mandatory time-in-service alongside a minimum of 90 days of active reserve duty.
