Obsolete Pin of the 16th brigade, which included mostly soldiers living in Jerusalem for the purpose of emergency defense of the city in the worst case scenario when the Jordanians attack and invade the city.
Until the year of 1967 (the Six Day War) the international border with Jordan was in touch from three directions, and only one side was open towards Jordan.
The goal of the unit changed after the border has been changed further to the west.
