The Documentation and Photography Squad is a photography unit of the IDF spokesman's formation whose mission is to provide operational documentation from the field and the battlefield, during routine and emergency times, with the aim of helping the Israeli press to provide a space of international legitimacy for the army's operations, as well as to document the identity of the fighting units for the needs of spokesmen, as well as battlefield documentation for the need Research, for operational needs and intelligence needs.

The soldier in the documentation and photography unit undergoes combat training as a rifleman 06, at the end of which the soldier participates in an operational documentation course and a course in speaking professions at the IDF Spokesperson. The duration of the training is about 8 months.

The operational documentarian is authorized to stay in combat zones to collect and send documentation materials from the battlefield to the news systems in Israel and around the world.
