Rimon unit (also called Sayeret Rimon) was an elite IDF unit subordinate to the Southern Command, which operated intermittently from 1970 to 2005 and its primary task was to combat terrorism Palestinians in Gaza.
In 1970 instructed Ariel Ronen (the head of Southern Command) to establish a unit to fight terror from Gaza.
This unit was the early model undercover units of today (the Duvdevan unit and Reconnaissance Unit) and performed similar operations.
The unit fighters have been trained speed shutting by various types of guns and trained to respond quickly under fire.
The unit was transferred to the Valley Country pursuits command during the late 70s of the 20th century and continued to operate as a patrol platoon until 2005, then transferred to the responsibility of the "Eternal Jew" (Nahal Haredi) and has been running operate as a patrol platoon.
